![]() ![]() When Indiana Jones survives the same thing, that's Plot Armor - the only explanation for his survival is that it's only halfway through the movie and you know he can't die yet. When Superman takes a bullet to the eye and survives, that's his superhuman nature - there's an explanation, albeit a fantastic one, for how he comes out unharmed. The problem is that these instances of "sheer luck" happen all the time with Bob or only when it would benefit Bob.īear in mind that having Plot Armor is not the same as being Nigh-Invulnerable. If only one person is going to survive the story, that person has to be Bob for there to be a story. note A typical explanation is that Bob survived through sheer luck on the basis of the Anthropic Principle. ![]() Therefore, whenever Bob is in a situation where he could be killed (or at the least very seriously injured), he comes out unharmed with no logical, In-Universe explanation. Sometimes referred to as "Script Immunity" or a "Character Shield", Plot Armor is when a main character's life and health are safeguarded by the fact that he's the one person (or one of several) who can't be removed from the story. Even psychological trauma can be held at bay by Bob's Plot Armor. He doesn't have talent or luck he has a suit of divine armor which miraculously protects him from all lasting harm (until the plot calls for it). A seriously good author can make it seem like Bob is the Decoy Protagonist or another character that dies, set them up for death and have them escape in truly dramatic manner.īut in less skilled hands, Bob's invincibility up to page 236 becomes obvious as every mook he shoots go down in one hit while they either constantly miss him or he is able to shrug off identical strikes. Tension with these challenges are in conflict with the Foregone Conclusion that he will survive, a good author can keep it from being obvious that the orc he meets on page 56 can't possibly stop Bob - not if he's going to meet Fing the Fuming on page 237. ![]() He's essential to the plot, which means it is assumed he will progress through the story until at least the final confrontation.īut Bob will need to have some challenges to reach this encounter with destiny, so the author has to throw dangers in his way. The loot dropped by the mouse depends on the chamber in which it is captured.Lucky Bob! He's The Protagonist of a story, The Hero whose predestined role is to oppose - maybe even defeat - the villain. Time Sand will not drop as loot until Hunters have acquired the Ancient Hourglass from the Chronomaster in the Timewarp Chamber. This loot is affected by Quantum Quartz and will also deplete the loot of a chamber, counting toward completing the chamber. If Hunters use Rift Vacuum Charm or Rift Super Vacuum Charm, Calcified Rift Mist may be dropped as loot. Items unaffected by Quantum Quartz or not directly dropped from mice (such as Enerchi generated from using Enerchi Charm or Super Enerchi Charm and bonus Calcified Rift Mist from using Rift Super Vacuum Charm or Christmas Crystalabra Trap) will not be duplicated and will not count toward completing the chamber. This loot will also deplete the loot of a chamber, counting toward completing the chamber. Items affected by Quantum Quartz will duplicate an extra piece of that loot. When the Chamber Cleaver is available to catch, a small mouse figure appears in the top-right corner of the loot meter in the HUD. New set of Portals can be opened early by catching Chamber Cleaver mouse, which is preset in certain chambers after a certain amount of loot has been looted. ![]() However, if the hunter has completed Ingress Chamber, four Portals will open. Once the loot meter reaches zero, three Portals open up. Hunters collect loot from the mice to empty Chambers and progress through the location. Entering Gearworks will start the progress towards catching Absolute Acolyte. Hunters can choose to hunt at the Entrance or enter Gearworks. They are also presented a single Portal for Gearworks chamber. When Hunters first enter the Bristle Woods Rift or when they return after capturing an Absolute Acolyte, they encounter the Entrance. There are total 12 Chambers in addition to Acolyte Chamber. Leaving the Acolyte Chamber or any other chamber will not reset a Hunter's progress. The Rift Detector can be purchased at the Living Garden Cartographer for 120,000 gold and 5 Dol Essences. The Bristle Woods Rift is located in the Rift Plane region requiring a minimum rank of Grand Duke/Duchess and the Rift Detector to enter. Contained inside are extremely powerful mice, versed in the arts of clockwork time manipulation looking to find a way out! Completely isolated with no signs of entry except for a lone, translucent portal.
